I'm having a great time here. I've been spending most of my days with my family and haven't been sightseeing on my own yet, but I'll probably do that in a couple of days, when I've figured out how everything works with public transportation and stuff. I also haven't made much pictures yet, because i usually do that when I'm alone and getting lost and seeing things i don't see when I'm distracted by familiar faces. I also haven't found a good way to post my pictures without it being esthetically unsatisfying. so if anyone knows a (free) website I can use to post pictures and choose a template, please let me know, because i want it to match my blog as much as possible.
so far i've seen more of Singapore and it's so beautiful here! I love the raintrees along the roads almost covering them like a green umbrella. we've also been to the eastcoast to some food villages and to some markets in the center of town. a whole new world opened up to me at the fruit and vegetable department of the supermarket, i'm trying out new fruit everyday, it's awesome! (i'm a big fan of soursop juice now) but when we go out to eat (only at food markets and food villages, not only for the incredibly cheap prices (2-3 euros for a whole plate), but also the atmosphere) it's like i'm a kid in a candystore, there is so much to choose and everything tastes good and looks nice and i'll probably do a food-post soon to show you guys what i'm talking about. for now i'll try to explain the experience of eating at a food village: it's basically a place with stalls (how many depends on how big the place is) and tables and ceiling fans. a stall is like 2 by 2 meters or so. some stalls have only drinks or fruits, but most have food. so first you buy a drink and try to find a table. then you just walk around and pick something you're in the mood for (prawn noodle soup, nasi goreng, beef sateh, fried rice with chicken, teryaki, fish, noodles with veggies, won ton soup, fried stuff thingies (i'm still learning all the names) roti, indian curry...i could go on and on). you order (by pointing at the dish on the picture or talk really slowly) and within two minutes it's done. you take chopsticks and a spoon, walk back to the table and let you taste buds go insane. I'm getting so hungry just typing about it....
the weather has been kinda the same the past few days and i'm starting to get used to it. it never cools down ever, but most of the shopping malls and bigger stores have airconditioning. I couldn't sleep that well the first few days because of the heat, but last night i finally slept like a rock.
we've been to the Jurong Birdpark the day before yesterday, it was alot of fun. birds, tropical trees and interesting looking flowers everywhere. i'll post some pictures soon, you just have to see it. yesterday we went to Sentosa Beach. I finally chilled in a hammock hung from palmtrees and looking at the ocean...niiiice!!!! oh, and lastnight i saw my first tiny lizzard thing animal! it was in the kitchen and i tried to catch it, but that was pretty impossible. and a big green caterpillar sat near my foot. I wanted to pick it up, but apparently they have hairs and if they touch your skin it will itch like a motherf*cker, so lesson number one: don't touch any weird animals. we also got a visit from this incredibly tiny snake like creature that suddenly appeared under the table. it looked like a worm, but it moved around like a snake.
so that's about it for now. today i'm helping my grandmother make a pastei, mmmmm, pastei.
I read that holland won 4-1 from France, everyone is probably going insane over there!
