some pics so far

I haven't found a nice looking site to post pics on yet, so i'll just post them trough my stories. I did manage to create a portfolio, so if you're interested in my (highly amaturistic) photographs, then just click on 'portfolio' under 'links'. underneath it you can also find a link to my dads website about his treefarm which we will be visiting soon.

the mosquitos here are loving me and their bites itch like crazy! of course i've been scratching them open, so i bought some weird green gummy chinese anti mosquito bite itches and pains balsam stuff in chinatown and it burns like hell. but it smells kinda nice...anyway, grab a drink, light up a ciggie, this will take a while:

these are a couple of trees in my dads yard. the building in the back is a school for little kids. this is the view sitting outside on the side of the house, looking at the front.

gorgeous palmtrees in front of the neighbors house. there are about 15 different types of commonly seen palmtrees here and this one is called 'Traveller's Palm'. it gets its name from the fact that thirsty travellers can find emergency drinking water in the flower bracts and leaf folds. the attractive appearance makes it useful for formal landscaping and it is popularly used by hotels. the palm is native to Madagascar.

Jurong Birdpark:

smiling owls and two other funky birds

more birds, a nice little island in the park and the last one came really closeby

penguins are awesome, middle one is me feeding birds, they were really greedy and mean to each other, right one ostrich head

some flowers and trees, that's me on the right hugging a bottletree

some nature all around as you're just wandering in the park

Little India:

so many new colors and smells, next time i'll take more pictures

Sentosa Beach:

first two views from hammock, sign next to bridge on third picture says: 'Southernmost Point of Asia Continent'

pictures below are from 'Songs of the Sea', a musical spectacle on Sentosa Beach with water, fire and lights

Singapore Flyer:

an enormous observation wheel with a total height of 165 meters, one ride takes about 30 mins

Chinatown:

trishaw parking sign on street, oldest hindu temple in Singapore, buddhist temple

inside buddhist temple: chanting monk, table with books, candles in front of the statue Bodhisattva Cinamanicakra Avalokitesvara "He who holds the wheel and the wish-fulfilling jewel"

two schoolgirls, a row of trishaws, an old newspaper guy and an icecream man posing for me ringing his icecream bell

rolls of paper in chinese artsy store, flying ninja dolls and scary stuffed doglike thing

i don't really know what these are called, but they bring good luck, middle one are some houses and last one uhm, i guess samurai robot toys...?

street view, typical touristy chinatown store, nice sign in cd store

sign says it all, really nice crushed ice with coconut drinks here, giant steamer and cranky lady in the background

I found a list in front of a food village which said: 'Ten Must-tries at Most Food Centres'
I will obviously try these ten dishes and make a food entry soon with pictures, explanations and taste/smell/looks experience descriptions (i will even try fish head curry...)
but for now a little preview:

your average food village, lady chopping, sugarcains and coconuts

fruit stall, stall display and some more food
